About TowSense
Helping tow vehicle operators make informed, safer decisions.
Our Mission
Towing safely starts with knowing your limits. TowSense exists to help everyday drivers quickly check whether their vehicle can safely tow a given trailer—before they hit the road. We believe this information should be easy to find and easy to understand.
What We Do
TowSense is a calculator that cross-references your vehicle's specs, your trailer's specs, and established towing limits to give you a clear pass, warning, or fail result. It checks tow capacity, payload limits, GVWR, and hitch weight balance so you don't have to do the math yourself.
TowSense is a reference tool only. It is not a substitute for your vehicle's owner's manual, trailer documentation, or professional guidance. Always verify towing limits with official sources before towing. Read our full disclaimer
How It Works
TowSense pulls vehicle and trailer specifications from three sources:
User Input
You enter your vehicle and trailer details manually, including weights and ratings from your owner's manual.
Our Database
We maintain a growing database of vehicle and trailer specs contributed by the community and sourced from public data.
AI Lookup
When a vehicle or trailer isn't in our database, AI can look up specs from web data. AI results may be imprecise and should always be verified.
